Our alumni often ask how they can support our school and we just ask you to stay in touch and attend our events when possible. We're also very grateful to those of you who've been able to volunteer to help with careers talks, mentoring or offer work experience. We provide our alumni with:
- Old Owenians In Touch, an online network for you to keep in contact with each other
- a biannual Old Owenians Newsletter, which gives you our school and alumni news (June and December)
- @DAOSAlumni - a Twitter account for all Old Owenians - no need to join to view!
- opportunities for you to attend our annual Old Owenians Careers Talks Week (March)
- networking events - Old Owenians Coffee and Tour Morning/Old Owenians London Network Reception (May)
- support for your Old Owenians Annual Reunion Luncheon (Harold Moore) in London (October)
If you're able to volunteer your time to help with careers talks, mentoring or can offer work experience, please contact our Careers Coordinator and Sixth Form Manager, Mrs Carol Whiter at firstname.lastname@example.org or ring her direct on 01707 622867.
If you'd like to contribute to our Old Owenians Newsletter, to share any of your experiences, please email our editor, Mrs Sonja Winborn at email@example.com.
In addition, every student at Dame Alice Owen's School, past and present, has benefited from gifts or donations to provide the best facilities, best teachers and widest opportunities to enrich their learning environment. Through the generosity of our Trustee, The Worshipful Company of Brewers, we are also able to provide opportunities over and above that which government funding allows. For example our rigorous building programme since 1990 has given us our:
Edinburgh Centre in 1990 (IT and Library)
Bernard Ryan Centre in 1997 (Sixth Form and Languages)
Edward Guinness Hall in 2002 (Performing Concert Hall)
Arnold Lynch Building in 2007 (Maths, Art and Design Technology)
Myddelton Building in 2014 (Science)
Sir Alan Parker Building in 2015 (Languages, Drama and Learning Support)

Leaving a gift in your Will
However large or small, you can be assured any gift to us will leave a lasting legacy. If you already have a Will, you can simply make an update, free of charge, by adding a Codicil Form to your existing Will. This must be signed in the presence of two witnesses. Once completed, the form must be attached to and stored with the original copy of your Will. It is advisable that you check any alterations to your Will with your solicitor. Please see Codicil Form below.
Including us in your Will can also be a tax-efficient way of donating depending on your level of income - once again, we recommend that you discuss this with your solicitor.
If you are remembering us in your Will, we'd be very grateful if you could let us know to give us the opportunity to acknowledge your gift, by completing the Legacy Pledge Form below and returning it to our Senior Finance Manager, Mrs Jackie Campbell either by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by post to her at the school address. If you feel you’d like to talk through your options with someone in confidence, please contact our Head's PA, Mrs Veronique Duverge on 01707 643441.
Legacy Pledge Form
We appreciate that you’re entrusting us, as a Charity (Registered Charity No. 1062184), to put your legacy to good use and hope you can see from our long history of outstanding results, students here are in the extremely fortunate position of continuing to receive the sort of education that was the foundation for many of your own careers. We hope you’ll want to leave a legacy in the knowledge that we “strive with a will” to provide every one of our students with the opportunity for outstanding teaching and learning as well as an amazing wider education experience. Dame Alice Owen herself set us a wonderful example of how powerful such a legacy can be.
If you would like to make a donation directly from your salary, please contact your employer to find out whether they operate a payroll giving scheme. Under these schemes, donations are automatically deducted from an employee's gross salary before tax is paid. Employers will sometimes match employees' donations.
Exploring opportunities with us to become a major donor
We have a number of opportunities for business partners and major donors. Please contact our Head, Mrs Hannah Nemko, for further information at: email@example.com or ring her direct on 01707 643441 ex 223.
We value your feedback about any of our alumni activities, so please email us with your views and suggestions: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your support
